There are four ways to help protect your palm trees from freezing.

# 1 Foliar/leaf spray:

Acrylic polymers can be sprayed onto the leaves of palm trees that help protect the plants from not only freezing weather but also from extreme heat, wind, and shock from transplanting them. These are non-toxic and can also be used to prolong the life of cut roses and vegetables. When using this spray, you will increase the cold tolerance of your palm trees anywhere from 4-10 degrees. # 2 Wrap the bud:

Burlap and frost blankets can be used to wrap the bud of the trees and some of the foliage to help protect the tree. Take these sheets and wrap them around the bud several times to add a good layer of protection. Some trees may need the leaves tied up in order to wrap them . Just remember to remove them when the weather starts to warm back up.

# 3 Fertilizing :

Palm trees that have received balanced fertilization over the months before a period of cold temperatures are more likely to survive and recover from cold damage than nutritionally deficient palms.
